New York auto insurance
New York is a no-fault state, and such you are required
to have insurance that covers you for all the expenses that could arise
from an accident. Auto liability insurance will cover you in the case
of bodily injury to another person or persons, and damage cause to property,
the minimum amounts for this are $25,000 for bodily injury per person
(up to a total of $50,000) and $10,00 for property (often shown as 25/50/10).
As well as the auto insurance, you are also required to have uninsured
motorist cover, in case of an uninsured driver causing you injury –
the minimum amounts for this are the same as for the auto insurance (25/50).
In order to satisfy the no-fault requirement, drivers are required to
have personal injury protection (PIP) to provide for medical and other
expenses incurred as a result of an accident, the minimum amount required
for this is $50,000.
Being no-fault means that insurance costs are expensive, but good deals
can be found and hopefully we can help you to that end.
